Pirates of the High Seas fest Sets Sail Columbus Day Weekend

With its pristine beaches and ideal weather, Panama City Beach, Florida, is seen as the perfect vacation getaway for many travelers during October.

This article will outline our favorite of the fall festivals in Panama City that one should attend during the spectacular and cool fall season, the “Pirate of the High Seas!”

“Pirate of the High Seas” for Columbus Day Weekend

During Columbus Day weekend, October 11-13th (in 2019), those in Panama City Beach, Florida are treated to the “Pirate of the High Seas” festival and parade.

The event is free and fun for the whole family. Visitors to the festival should expect to see pirate invasions, a scavenger hunt, live music, fireworks, and both a kids and parents parade. It is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with the family and to make some amazing memories.

Friday

Day one starts on Friday, Oct 11th, with a fantastic schedule of events. It all launches with the opening of the fun zone at 5 p.m. We then move into the Back Porch for the Kids Parade, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending around 6 p.m.

The event barrels on with the epic Treasure Drop. Event leaders will toss all sorts of fun kids treasures across the grounds of Pier Park. Join in big themed pirates of the game of the high sea.

The music officially begins at 8 p.m. with the sound of Top Rock Junkies. This is at the Celebration stage, though you are bound to hear the music from most parts of Pier Park.

Saturday

The second day continues with some exciting entertainment from Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. It is followed by music from the Caribbean Chillers at 7 p.m.

Music is a constant mainstay at this epic festival. But you can also find plenty of fun games and activities scattered about the park, such as the Pirate Invasion, a costume and actor extravaganza.

Kids (and adults) will have a blast with the Commodore Mayhem Magic Show at 1:30 p.m. it is a nice complement to the fun and the games in the Festival Village and Little Pirates fun zone, open from noon to 6 p.m.

The evening closes out with a celebratory fireworks display at Russell-Fields City Pier.

Sunday

Close the event out at the Grand Lagoon at Capt. Anderson’s Marina Parking Area, 5550 N. Lagoon Drive.

Here you will find a grand treasure hunt at 3:15 p.m. by the main stage. There’s also a kids fishing class over at the marina dock at noon and a storytelling event on the main stage at 1:15 p.m. it is the classic story of pirate lore, “The Legend of Dominique Youx.” The story carries an eerie legend, and kids will be entranced by its swashbuckling adventures and enthralling twists and turns!

Following this, you and the pirate crew can head over to Capt. Anderson’s Stage for the Pirate Pet Parade! Yes, there will be pooches with eyepatches.
